The 70's theme night was a great success, well done Sue Wheatley who organised the event and Shaun Hopper who won the best fancy dress competition after a keenly fought 'dance off''

Back in September 2008 'Business Leaders Deal and Sandwich' were invited to report on our local news and events to the BNI HQ editorial team.
Both our Raft Race and John Tipping's book about dyslexia featured in the latest December issue.

Leadership Team Handover
After 6 months at the helm, Nigel Stevenson, Carol Wilkinson and David Brown step down as Leadership Team members.
In his 'epilogue' speech, retiring chapter director Nigel Stevenson said: "Looking back over the past 6 months I’d like to think that this leadership team has achieved what it set out to do – ‘raise the profile of our chapter’. ...BNI Deal and Sandwich now has a higher profile and a new name to reflect its extended catchment area."

BNI members sponsor Guide Dogs for the Blind walk
Members son George Stevenson aged 9 (with dog) raised over £100 for the Kent Guide Dogs for the Blind charity by walking from Sandwich Quay to The Zetland Arms (Kingsdown) with his pet dog DeeDee.

George joined school mates, teachers and parents from Dover College for this annual march. Every BNI member from the chapter sponsored George - Well done to everyone

BNI support Martha Trust charity evening
6 members and their wives attended the Martha Trust evening, over £12,000 was raised for respite care in the local area, well done Rose Osborne who organised the event which included Dave Lee the comedian and Geraint Jones the Kent and England cricketer

BNI support for Tides Leisure Centre - Deal (press release)
' Business Leader of Deal & Sandwich ' have donated educational games and toys to Tides Leisure Centre in Deal. Vista Leisure is the not for profit distributing leisure trust and registered charity who managing both Tides and Dover Leisure Centre.
Lee Waddon Activities Development Manager for Vista Leisure received the cheque for £200 from Nigel Stevenson the Chapter Director and commented ‘Parents using our facilities make good use of our crèche and we are delighted to receive this support from the local business community’.
Nigel Stevenson form the Deal BNI said ‘Exercise for parents and pre-school activities for children are important community services. We are proud to be associated with Vista Leisure for the benefit of local families’

Chapter member writes his memoirs
Deal and Sandwich BNI member John Tipping is totally dyslexic, but despite this disability he's written a book titled "go play in the sand, John - A life disabled by dyslexia, reclaimed through love" - a stunning insight into the life of a man who at one point nearly took his own life!
